Ol Tukai Conservancy: on line!
Category: Uncategorized | Date: Oct 29 2007 | By: admin
The Ol Tukai Conservancy ( Tanzania) is very proud to be a member of the WildlifeDirect family…we consider it a great priviledge indeed!
We have been operating in the Tarangire-Manyara corridor area for the last 2 years and have had excellent success both on the conservation and community development fronts.
Our most current project is the creation of a small scale tree plantation to provide fuel and building material for the community. The Village of Ol Tukai is very sparsely wooded, and then predominantly with palms and sausage trees. That natural situation combined with large scale loss of trees due to flooding during the El Nino of the late 90’s and continued, in fact growing, use of this resource; makes this project urgent, we are very happy to be able to get this project underway at this point!
This project is being undertaken in partnership with Matembezi safaris in Tanzania (www.matembezi.co.tz)

Cheers and thanks!
