Team testing little stints for Avian Flu in Ol Tukai

Category: Uncategorized | Date: Dec 09 2007 | By: admin

Ol Tukai currently has a team of experts testing migratory little stints for Avian Flu along the shores of Lake Mayara…the team has been there for one week and will continue the research for another 2 weeks.

Thus far there have been no indications of the presence of avian flu in the little stints!

the research is funded jointly via USAID and GTZ via the University of Minnesota and the team is being let by Liz and Neil Baker…two of Tanzania’s top ornithologists.

We will post the results as soon as we have them!

Well, that is great news that you have not found any evidence of avian flu in the migratory birds thus far…hopefully it will stay that way. I look forward to further post about this as my own job in the US touches on planning for a potential pandemic (COOP planning, not epidemiology).
